Johnny Watkiss

John "Johnny" Watkiss (born 28 March 1941 in England[1]) is a former football] defender. He played for Earlwood Juniors for a year and trained at Earlwood Oval. Watkiss played a couple of trial games for Canterbury but they asked him to play for Earlwood for a year before he played grade for them in the years 1957-63.

He was a member of the Australian 1974 FIFA World Cup squad in West Germany and represented Australia 31 times between 1965 to 1974 scoring 4 times. He is listed in the Award of Distinction Football Federation of Australia Football Hall of Fame to honour outstanding services to football (soccer) in Australia. He retired about 1978, after 6 years with Sutherland, then coached for 3 years.
