Debra Adelaide has worked as a university teacher and researcher and is now an author, freelance editor and occasional book reviewer. She has written or edited and introduced eight books, and has contributed to several others. Serpent Dust, her second novel is a compelling story from the early dark days of Australia's past. The book asks what it was like that day when the First Fleet sailed into Port Jackson? What was it like for those on board, and those who watched from the shore? Debra Adelaide has taken the known historical facts and imagined what life was like for Aborigines and Europeans, and what could have happened. Her previous book, Hotel Albatross, appeared in 1995. The anthology Motherlove was published in 1996, and following its success, Motherlove 2 in 1997. Debra Adelaide lives in Hurlstone Park with her husband and three children.
