Birds of the Cooks River

Water birds like the White-faced heron, Egrets and Royal spoonbill survive and thrive in the shallows and the mangroves, using their long beaks to find crustaceans in the mud or fish in the water. Cormorants, Darters and Pelicans fish in the deeper water.

On the Cooks River there have been at least 36 bird species recorded at or in the vicinity of Rosedale Reserve
